Leaving a gift in your Will
Each year around 5,000 people leave a gift in their wills to a Church of England parish - money to finance redevelopment projects, maintain beautiful church buildings, or enable some other aspect of church life. These gifts make a real difference to the future work of the church – as regular giving is often consumed maintaining the existing mission and ministry.
For many people, leaving a gift in a will is a final opportunity to say thank you to God for God’s blessing to them and to help the development of their church family.
Making a will and keeping it up to date is a simpler and less expensive process than many people imagine.

Donating your time, skills and expertise
When it comes to making a charitable donation to the church, your time can be as precious a commodity as money – especially if you have skills and experience to offer. Volunteering is a great way to contribute your time and skills to a cause close to your heart. You can volunteer on your own, with friends and family or with work colleagues, and make a real difference to our project. For instance, could you help us to research and apply for grant funding from awarding bodies? If there is any way in which you think your skills and experience could be useful to us, then we would love to hear from you.

Sponsoring a particular aspect of our project
If you are an individual or organisation, you may want to personally sponsor a particular aspect or element of our project, or a particular event that may be happening at the church, or perhaps a new piece of artwork. If this is something you may be interested in doing, then, again, we would love to hear from you.

Weddings and Baptisms
Today more than a quarter of all marriages in England take place before God in the traditional setting of a Church of England church. Getting married in church is a sign to your friends, family, and most importantly to each other, that you are ready to make a public declaration of love and commitment in front of those who love you and are part of your life together, including God.
In Baptism, parents thank God for His gift of life and make a decision to start the child on the journey of faith and ask for the Church’s support. The Church of England conducts over 2,500 christenings every week of the year. Everyone is welcome to have their baby or child baptized at a Christening in their parish church and it remains a popular decision for parents.
If you would like to talk to us about having your Wedding or Baptism at St Laurence, then please contact The Church Office. There is lots more information, advice and guidance on Weddings and Baptisms in the Church of England available on the Diocese of Gloucester website here -
